Need something to lift those January blues? Dr snakeSNAKEsnake has just the prescription: cider, music and dancing!

Thanks Mike, Jayne and all the crowd at the Lamb and Lion, Hambridge for another brilliant night at this year’s wassail. Following the very chilly, but well attended ceremony outside, (including a crowd sing song and pouring of cider onto the tree), we all headed indoors for what turned out to be another top night at The Lamb and Lion, with plenty of cider, shouting, crowd particpation and a snakey debut from the landlady herself on stage!
Thanks to Georgina who took these pics of the outside bit. You can almost see the icicles.
And thanks once again Lamb and Lion folk, we’ll be back very soon!
Are you feeling festive yet? We’ve put together a (hastily arranged) seasonal tune to get you in the mood (it might sound a bit familiar). Please do have a listen and spread the love.
That was a tip-top bit of wassailing last Saturday at the lovely Lamb and Lion in Hambridge. It felt rather special to be at the newly refurbished pub’s inaugural wassail and to be the first to sing to that lovely new sapling. Here’s hoping it provides plenty of cider apples for generations to home. We’re looking forward to coming back to enjoy its harvest.
A reminder to y’all that we shall be providing the music at this Saturday’s Wassail celebration at The Lamb and Lion in Hambridge.
Details can be found on their facebook event page ‘ere. There shall be much music, merriment and mulled cider and a special Wassail menu.
We hopes you can come along and bless dem apples with us!
Happy New Year to y’all.
Lots of exciting, snakey things to look forward to this year: releasing and touring our debut album, various festival dates coming in and general nonsense. More on this in the weeks to come. In the meantime, you have some important apple blessing to do…
Many of you may have promised yourself a ‘Dry January’. But we all know that during these cold miserable months taking up such self-depriving commitments is pointless. Not only that, but there is a very important tradition that needs to be fulfilled to ensure a healthy harvest of cider apples this year – WASSAIL!
Last year we played at a Wassail in a farm’s cider orchard and despite the miserable weather had a ripe old time. The cider that year was provided by Wood’s Traditional Cider.
Since then, Mr and Mrs Wood have moved onto to greater things and are now in charge of the refurbished Lamb & Lion at Hambridge.
We’re very pleased to have been asked to go play at their Wassail celebration on January 17th and invite you all to come join the fun! Put it in yer diaries now.
Thank you to everyone who came, took part and helped make possible the first Low Ham Wassail – tickets sold out and an amazing £820 was raised for the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance. We’ll try and get some pix up here but it was a bit tricky in the dark and wet. People made good in the bad weather, drunk cider and danced til the wee hours. Much fun. I’m sure the cider Gods were appeased and we can expect a bountiful crop of apples ahead. Same again next year folks?
