Ahh, August Bank Holiday.
Barbecues, sunburn/torrential rain, motorway tailbacks.
Last little squeeze of the British Summer before the schools go back and life returns to normal-ish.

Unknown
This Sunday, why not completely avoid the M5 Car Park and head over to The Crown at Pilton for some cider and dancing.

As an extra special treat, as well as a live set by The Legendary snakeSNAKEsnake, we’ll also be on the record decks doing a bonus vinyl DJ set for your pleasure.

Live in Glastonbury this Saturday – including a DJ set

This weekend The Legendary snakeSNAKEsnake will be returning to The Riflemans Arms in Glastonbury, where we played earlier in the year as part of Glastonbury calling. It was an absolute blast with people up and dancing from the off and we’ve been looking forward to getting back there.

As a special treat, this time not only will we be playing a live set, including some new material, we will also be sharing our record collection with you as we hit the decks. Yes, we will be delivering a vinyl DJ set too. Expect an eclectic mix of rockabilly, cowpunk, ska, country, spaghetti westerns, 60s Garage Punk and a load of other stuff. It set to be a scorcher of a weekend so come and join us for a drink and a boogie!

See you down the fornt.

The Legendary snakeSNAKEsnake supporting Babyhead w/The Refusal, Frome, Saturday

Well this is a bonus. It’s only just come to our attention that this Saturday’s gig will be supporting the fantastic festival favourites Babyhead, purveyors of finest ska hip hop.

https://i1.wp.com/www.wordplaymagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/babyhead-430.jpg

Not only is this exciting since they are one of the most exciting live bands in the Westcountry but it could also prove rather an emotional reunion!

Back in the day snakes among us have shared stages with several of these chaps. Their drummer played in Downtown Superpunks with Chris and when in Marshal Peanut, Kev played several formative gigs with his then college-mates in their various pre-Babyhead guises.

We’re not so familiar with The Refusal but they’re described as a mix of ‘two tone ska and 60s garage’ – sounds pretty good to us and they certainly look the part.

As well as 3 brilliant bands there’ll be DJs to 1.30 in the morning. Dance til you drop.

Tickets are £7.50 and available online here. Be quick though cos the early birds have already sold out.

It promises to be a night of lots of fun, theatrics and hot, sweaty dancing. You really don’t want to miss this one. Kick off at 8pm.

See you down the front!

Glastonbury Called. And it was fantastic.

Wow! Glastonbury Calling WAS brilliant! Loads of great bands, great crowds and a great atmosphere. We had a fab time playing our first gig at The Rifleman’s Arms to a fun crowd who were dancing, singing along and joining in on percussion from the off! But better than that we got to mix with friends and see loads of other top notch acts (special mentions for Missy Edwards and John D Revelator and Idles and September Son and …the list is too long! And a heap of money was raised for Glastonbury FM. Ace.
