King Alfred – Burrowbridge. New Year’s Day!

snakeSNAKEsnake @ The King Alfred

Many thanks to the brave souls who sailed/swam to the watery King Alfred Inn on New Year’s Day to join us.

We weren’t sure if we would make it ourselves because of the flooding and Ben CelloSnake had to use his special seasnake amphibious skills to drive us through some rather high water.

The neighbouring River Parrett felt particularly near on new year’s day!

But the welcome certainly made it worthwhile. We had a fab time, even if we were a little rusty after coming out of hibernation. We particularly enjoyed the spontaneous crowd-sourced percussion section and the dog who kept trying to drink my pint.

It’s a lovely little pub, with great food and beer and we look forward to coming back there soon. Next stop – Low Ham Wassail Jan 18th!

Actually, this isn’t our van. Nor is this picture from when we were there. But it illustrates the point, OK?
