The Legendary snakeSNAKEsnake supporting Babyhead w/The Refusal, Frome, Saturday

Well this is a bonus. It’s only just come to our attention that this Saturday’s gig will be supporting the fantastic festival favourites Babyhead, purveyors of finest ska hip hop.

https://i1.wp.com/www.wordplaymagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/babyhead-430.jpg

Not only is this exciting since they are one of the most exciting live bands in the Westcountry but it could also prove rather an emotional reunion!

Back in the day snakes among us have shared stages with several of these chaps. Their drummer played in Downtown Superpunks with Chris and when in Marshal Peanut, Kev played several formative gigs with his then college-mates in their various pre-Babyhead guises.

We’re not so familiar with The Refusal but they’re described as a mix of ‘two tone ska and 60s garage’ – sounds pretty good to us and they certainly look the part.

As well as 3 brilliant bands there’ll be DJs to 1.30 in the morning. Dance til you drop.

Tickets are £7.50 and available online here. Be quick though cos the early birds have already sold out.

It promises to be a night of lots of fun, theatrics and hot, sweaty dancing. You really don’t want to miss this one. Kick off at 8pm.

See you down the front!

Outcider! As awesome as it sounds!

We had a fab time at the inaugural Outcider fest on Saturday. We opened up the main stage to a lovely welcome. I suspect a fair few of the audience were still drunk from the night before. We also got to see some amazing other acts, including Glastonbury’s own John D Revelator and met some lovely people. Great food. Great atmosphere. Oh, and there was loads of great cider. Absolutely spot on. Hats off to Skimmity Kev and his crew. Can’t wait until next year.

We’ll try and get some photos up here soon, but in the meantime here’s a review on efestival.

15th June Green Scythe Fair – Come and see The legendary snakeSNAKEsnake and men with giant choppers

Next stop for your favourite snakey troubadours is The Green Scythe Fair in Muchelney, Sunday 15th June.

We’ve not been here before but it look like a lot of fun: There’s loads of music (on a solar/wind powered stage), craft stalls, lovely food and drink and a kiddies area. We’re looking forward to playing with our old friend Bad Dog No Biscuit again, and seeing the brilliant Olde Boston Tea Party, among other great acts.

It also incorporates the West Country Scythe Championship

known far and wide for the stupendous and often hilarious feats of haymaking by international scythesmen and women, who mow a swathe through the summer festival scene. It is probably the most authentic, and enjoyable, country fair in all England!”

All for only a fiver!

Should be a good ‘un. Get yerself there.
